Donating Blood - prematurity

New postby Schmushe » Fri Jan 01, 2010 1:23 pm

Every year around 82,000 babies int he UK need specialist hospital care when they are first born, One vital part of treatment for many sick or premature babies is a blood or platelet transfusions, collected by the National Blood service.
Over the Christmas period in particular, supplies of blood get very low, so it is important to donate blood especially at theis time of year,

Bliss is encouraging people to become regular donors - 45 minutes of your time can help support recovery or save the lives of 8 premature or sick babies, as one donation pack can be seperated into 8 baby blood packs.
