reading eggs?

reading eggs?

New postby lauraannek » Wed Oct 05, 2011 10:14 am

I know a few of you have talked about this programme and Im really interested in it with Emily as she loves letters and sounds and knows most of her phonetic alpahabet and letter names already - do you think this would be ideal for her and have your children ever got bored?

Have you just done it online or purchased any of the books for at home too?

Also William has just gone into Year 1 - from experience is it still something he would benefit from?

We play it online and Felix loves it - he would play it all day if I let him! His reading has come so far since we started playing and it's helped him with things that I might not be so able to explain. I mean, we read loads and always have done, which I think is where he's learnt a lot of it, but this concentrates on phonics, blending etc. which seems to be how they want to teach it at school too.

It's supposed to cover up to 7 year olds, so William would probably still enjoy it too.

You can set up accounts for both of them and get a free trial to test it out if you want to.

My William loves it too.

We don't work through it together much tho as I just don't seem to have the time with James as well and trying to do his school reading book and te normal painting, play doh and craft too :( However - William does a lesson by himself and then uses up all the points he is awarded by playing the little games on there.

I would definitely set up the free trial! TBH - William already knew all the words that he is doing on the lessons that reading eggs have put him on and therefore not learnt much at all but it all re-enforces what he already knows (iykwim?) but I can definitely see how a younger child would progree through the stages and learn loads.

I thought it was a bit pricey - but it is only a one off really!

You could register them both if yu want - but you could also quite easily just register William and make them share their points (presuming you only have one pc and so can't play at the same time) as even though William was put on a higher level map - he can still access the lower maps and enjoys doing the simpler ones sometimes just for fun.

There was a write up about reading eggs on gurgle the other week.

Same with Felix really, he's never struggled with it so it's not like it's hard, but I think there's still a lot of new info going in that he then applies to later games, if that makes sense.

Alexa has been playing this recently, we set up the free trial to see what she thought of it. She knows a majority of it but enjoys playing on it.

Dithering about renewing Williams subscription as it now goes up to age 11 so he is working through the eggspress section and enjoying it still.

What is the best price that anyone has ever paid for the yeas subscription? wondering if I don't do it will they send me through an excellent offer after it runs out? or should I take the 30% they are offering me now?
