Chalkwell Park
Chalkwell Park is one of Southend-on-Sea's larger parks, with two
playgrounds, large expanses of grass, sports courts, a pond, beautiful
ornamental gardens, colourful bedding displays, an environmental
garden, a courtyard style sun garden and a rose garden recognised by
the National Rose Society. The park also has a few resident peacocks
strutting their stuff!

The two playgrounds were last updated in 2009/2010 with state of the
art equipment. At the front of the
park is an area for older children, featuring both standard play
equipment (swings, slides etc.) and some new and rather different
equipment such as a zip slide. Towards the rear of the park is a
toddler area, with swings, climbing frames and a series of fun tubes to
crawl through and bridges to climb.
As well as football and cricket pitches (and club), the park has tennis
courts, a skate park, basketball court and cricket nets.
The park regularly holds events in the Spring and Summer, such as the
Fair, the Village Green event and the Ugly Bug Ball. It is a favourite for Mums
and toddlers in the summer and a great spot for picnics.
